“Ayurveda taught me how to listen—to myself and to my clients in a deeper way.”
For Kira, graduation wasn’t the end of her journey with East West—it was the beginning of something deeper. After completing the program, she continued to grow as a practitioner, following her curiosity, refining her skills, and discovering new layers within her work. Over time, that growth led her back to East West—this time as an instructor.
In the years after graduation, Kira developed both her practice and her perspective. One thread remained constant throughout that evolution: Ayurveda. She found herself returning to it again and again, drawn to its holistic approach and its emphasis on honoring each individual. Rather than treating healing as a fixed set of rules, Kira came to see Ayurveda as an invitation to listen more closely—to the body, to daily rhythms, and to what each person truly needs.
What continues to resonate most is that Ayurveda extends beyond technique. It offers a framework for understanding balance, cultivating self-awareness, and recognizing how small, consistent choices shape long-term well-being. That perspective now informs both how Kira practices and how she teaches, grounding her work in something that feels both practical and deeply human.
As her career evolved, so did her relationship with East West. Returning for electives and continuing education reignited her love of learning and reaffirmed the impact the school had on her path. Over time, that connection—and her growing experience—naturally opened the door to teaching.
Kira began instructing a range of classes, gradually developing her voice in the classroom. She eventually stepped into teaching the Ayurvedic Massage elective, a role that allowed her to fully integrate a long-standing passion into her work at East West.
Today, Kira approaches teaching with the same intention that guides her practice. She presents Ayurveda as accessible and relevant, not rigid or intimidating—an approach that helps students better understand the body, the nervous system, and the role of self-care in sustaining a career in massage. She encourages students to treat themselves with the same attention they offer clients, emphasizing the importance of slowing down, listening, and building habits that support longevity in the field.
Her journey also highlights the value of alumni returning to the classroom. For current students, instructors like Kira offer more than technical guidance—they provide a real example of how a massage career can grow and evolve over time. Her path reflects that growth is not always linear; it deepens through experience, expands through learning, and sometimes leads back in meaningful and unexpected ways.
For Kira, returning to East West is more than a full-circle moment—it’s a continuation. With expanded experience, a deepened connection to Ayurveda, and a passion for teaching, she now helps guide the next generation of massage therapists as they begin shaping their own paths.
